The best barbecue in East County is coming to Bowlero’s Harvest Park Bowl this Sunday. The 20th Annual BBQ King Cook-off will be hosted by the Brentwood Police Activity League (PAL) and former owner of HPB, Jim Wangeman!

A few guys were bragging about whose food was tasty enough for competition but then someone suggested that there could easily become an annual event if people enjoy it as much they do now when friends come over just so they can cook up some great meats together.
Despite winning the coveted BBQ of Grill three times over, chuckling a bit Wangeman said that first year “biased judges gave him [McPoland] first place.”

The competition has grown exponentially each subsequent year and this August 12 teams will light up their grills or smokers at 5 am in hopes for victory.The colorful and delicious BBQ competition will be a great way to spend an afternoon with friends, family or coworkers.
The public is welcome at this event that takes place from 10am-3pm on September 15th! There’s music by bluesy-rocker Jeffrey James who can entertain you while you await your tasty vittles – tickets cost $25 per person for adults age 18+ AND kids 11 & older get in free if they don’t already have one of those pesky “adult” ticket prices attached (you know what I mean). You purchase them directly form these talented chefs before picked up time comes around 1PM sharp 3DPAL

The first three quarters are worth $200 each while there is also prize money available should they successfully predict how close or far away from victory point respective teams will be when it ends! You can buy tickets now before anyone else does so make sure that both Brentwood Fine Meats (3877 A Walnut Blvd.)and Balfour Road Food Hall have them in stock because supplies run low often.
